Chamakh: Liverpool Under Pressure

Marouane Chamakh believes Liverpool is under more pressure to succeed than Arsenal this term coming off of a very disappointing season.

Following an impressive second place finish two seasons ago, Liverpool came into last season with big expectations.
However, the Reds struggled to a seventh place finish in the Premier League, and Chamakh insists the poor term that Liverpool is coming off of will put them under more pressure to perform than the Gunners this season.
“Arsenal had a good season." Chamakh told The Mirror. “They were in third place.
“The over-riding objective was to qualify for the Champions League and I think they did their maximum.
“There is pressure at a club like Arsenal, but Liverpool will be under more pressure because they had a bad season. It’ll be difficult for us, but it’ll be difficult for Liverpool too.
“We have an edge because we don’t have any pressure on us since it is an away match.
“I know it will be hard, but I am confident. We’ll do everything we can to bring points back from up there.”
Wenger was hoping to bring the Morocco international to Arsenal a year ago, but the Frenchman opted to wait until Chamakh’s contact ran out this summer rather than paying Bordeaux’s £12 million asking price.
Chamakh has impressed in Arsenal’s pre-season preparations for the season, and for the 26-year-old the Premier League opener will be the culmination of a dream.
“I have been dreaming for a year of playing for a team like Arsenal against teams like Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United.”
